 Amnesty International-Kyrgyzstan

Amnesty International is a worldwide campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; end political killings and "disappearances"; and oppose human rights abuses by opposition groups.

AI-Kyrgyzstan had been functioning since September, 1999. Our organization priority goal is promotion of human rights through education because we are all quite young. Therefore, majority of our projects are educational. The recent activities were:

7-week project on educating 50 rural children about gender, human rights, leadership and sexual health. It is ongoing, we are going to have a concluding session this Friday. We are going to continue this project next autumn with 4 schools and 100 children.

We also organize campaigns and present human rights principles through activities for different events (e.g. international human rights day, anti-torture day etc).

DEBATE CLUB

Center of Democratic Education is promoting the Debate Program in Kyrgyzstan.

The major directions are:
- Development intellectual skills of debaters
- Development of critical thinking and oratory skills
- Promoting of tolerance among youth.

AUCA Debate Club was founded in 1998. During these years AUCA debaters have distinguished themselves to be active and creative people. Several times AUKers won City and National Tournaments and successfully presented Kyrgyzstan at international tournament in Slovenia, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other countries.

The life of AUCA Debate Club is full of interesting events. Besides debating on important issues of contemporary society on City and Television Tournaments, debaters have a real opportunity to participate in the Annual Summer Debate Camp at the shore of Issyk-Kul lake and International Student Debate Forums in different countries. These events facilitate the friendship with peers of other countries and an unforgettable time spent together. Moreover participants of the Debate Program of CDE regularly meet at parties, mountain trips and celebrations. A very friendly atmosphere of the common goal for obtaining and integrating youth inspires our generation to explore their potential and to challenge their limits.

 WEB DESIGN CLUB

Web page design is one the most modern disciplines that gives an opportunity to create web-pages, design and place them in World Wide Web. This discipline became a hobby, a science or a work for millions people around the world. Some years ago students of AUCA also got an opportunity to know what it is. They were plunged in an absorbing world of design and found it very interesting. Creating web-pages now they can themselves choose the way their pages will look, put there any information and, besides, earn money. Every year number of people and students of AUCA involved in web-design is increasing. Now web-designers of AUCA have their own club, where they compare ideas and turn them into reality, discover new opportunities and teach each other.
This club is an achievement not only for web-designers, but for everyone who wants to study this discipline and become a designer of his/her pages.
For those, who dont have any skills in this field, advanced students will hold lectures and share their knowledge. Those, who already know enough about the web-design, make projects and teach students.
Web-design club is a place where everyone can feel useful.

   SIFE

First when I came to AUCA, I heard about a team, which won a championship and hadbeen to Great Britain. I had a desire to enter that team, but when the schoolstarted I forgot about my desire. I didnt really know that, that teamwas SIFE-AUCA students. After few months of studying at AUCA one of my friendscame up to me and invited me to come to the first meeting of young SIFErs.There I was introduced with the meaning of SIFE, its mission, abouteverything what students do there. After the first project I participated and mydesire grew more. After that I took part in different projects and began to likeit. And now I can say that my skills in organizing have been developed more thanbefore.

We do projects, fundraisings and organize concerts and most of all we have FUN by doing so. Some part of the money that we earn in fundraisings we use in the other projects, in having fun and to buy snacks. Students who are involved in it get experience in conducting projects, making annual reports and make partnerships with businessmen.
