The corporate name of the institution is American University in Kyrgyzstan. The state has vested its control in the hands of a Board of Trustees. It serves as the highest legal authority of AUK. The Board is the entity responsible for the oversight of the university's actions and activities. It sets policies and manages the fiscal resources of the university.
