A few words for prospective students: why should you consider AUK as the place to continue your education? AUK is unique: The American University in Kyrgyzstan is unlike any other institution in Central Asia - or the world. At AUK, we believe that both the American system of higher education and the Soviet system have many strengths. On this campus we are combining the best elements of both, in order to create something entirely new. Academic Excellence: AUK is a selective liberal arts university with high academic standards and rigorous programs. International Recognition: AUK enjoys an excellent reputation, both regionally and internationally, for academic excellence and for quality programs. Many of our graduates have found rewarding careers, and many others have been accepted into quality graduate programs in the United States, the UK, and elsewhere. In fact, more than 95% of AUK grads are either employed or in graduate school. Global and Multicultural Emphasis: Your education at AUK will prepare you for a world that is rapidly becoming smaller. University currently enrolls students from 18 different countries, so during your years with us you will meet and make friends with other students from around the world. In addition, our curriculum has a strong international emphasis. AUK is one of the only universities in the world that requires all students to be bilingual and that includes required courses in both Russian and English (If your skills in one of these languages is not yet at the level required for full admission to AUK, we offer a preparatory year of intensive language instruction). A Stimulating and Exciting Environment: Bishkek is a bustling city of more than 700,000 people. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan, and you will find many cultural and recreational opportunities, as well as cafes, discos, and many various entertainment options. I wish you every success in your search for rewarding educational opportunities. If you feel that AUK may be the right place for you and you would like full admissions information, please contact our admissions office. David Huwiler |
